Corel, suck my unsatisfied customer $#%#

rant time!

So I purchased a copy of Corel's Painter X last week from studica.com. It arrived yesterday and, like every new program i acquire for my computer, i was extremely excited and couldn't wait to get started painting.

I ran the cd, no problems there and I booted up the program. The start up window flashed for a second and was replaced by an error warning "OS X failed to Launch Program." goddamit. okay. dont panic. So i relaunched the program and got the same results. At this moment my new program high came crashing down, plummeting back into the fiery atmosphere.

Like for any problems and toils that one faces in life, relationships, work, computing, gaming, etc, I turned to plan B. Google. this is what my searches looked like over time.
Painter X fails on startup Mac.
Painter X crashes on start up Mac.
Painter X fails.
Painter X crashes.
fuck corel for writing this buggy shit software.

I sifted through at least 20 different programmers and artists forums.
It seems like 75% of the errors do not get solved and Corel has terrible customer service.
And I was not the only one having a problem with this program!
Every single forum had something different crashing in painter and other programs from corel.

The only solution i got for this crash on startup fiasco was to create a new Mac Login and run the program there.
Yes, the program runs. but its still not "working" for me. Running and working are two very different things

See, i have a very specific workflow. If its one thing that i hate is when someone or something breaks my workflow.
I have all the files i need on my original login and i really dont want to interrupt my workflow to stick reference files into a shared folder. Thats just bullshit.

Thanks corel, adobe is far more superior.

Yellow Rat Bastard Belt vs. Chinatown 5 dolla belt.

Something interesting came up while I was hanging out with Clara today.
She was wearing a belt that caught my attention. I chuckled and I said to her "Since when did you steal and put on one of my belts?" She was wearing my checkered black and white studded belt. She looked confused. "I bought this at Yellow Rat Bastard when I went to the mall to buy your tshirt for your birthday!" Incredibly amused at this conundrum, i quickly asked her "how much was it?" she replied "15 bucks"

Then I began feeling the belt and its materials (faux leather and aluminum belt buckles) and was exactly the same belt I bought from the local chinese shop for 5 dollars.

Then she took it off and we compared the back side of the belt as well. Here is the knock out: Same exact manufacture serial numbers! (except the size coding.)

So... I'm gonna buy more shit from the Chinese store now. I have no reason to believe that american mall brands are of any higher quality.

My guess is the specification for the belt was stolen or something at the manufactuing plant in indonesia (or some country with no child labor laws) and extra belts were secretly manufactured for smaller outlets that sell for cheaper prices... Or YRB just buys cheap shit and relabels them for a price rip off. Id go with the latter.

wheres my mind

left my portfolio on the train last night. =[
I was reading The Odyssey for the hundreth time (a required reading this semester)
My stop came rather quickly. So i just hopped off the train with my backpack. I realized one of my hands were free when it hadnt been the entire day... The refreshing feeling suddenly turned to oh shit. but i was too tired to care i guess. Lack of sleep and the can of Rockstar engery drink i had left me a bit fatigued.

Good thing i had nothing of importance in there except a few sketches that were already digitally backed up as you see here. If its one thing i do right is keeping 20 bizillion backups of everything i work on. (even paper/pencil sketches)

I just have to buy a new pack of newsprint and a more comfortable to hold and carry portfolio. that thing was already like 25 pounds without shit inside. it did keep everything nice and safe though... =[ oh well.
